South Wales Police have made a second arrest in connection with the murder investigation following the death of an 18-year-old man in a collision between a car and an off-road bike in Gorseinon, Swansea. The incident occurred on Pen Cae Crwn Road shortly before 1pm on Thursday, July 9.
Second Arrest and Charges
An 18-year-old man from Gorseinon has been arrested on suspicion of murder and Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent. He joins an 18-year-old man from Morriston who was previously arrested on suspicion of murder, dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drugs, and driving with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the limit. Both men remain in police custody for questioning.
The victim, an 18-year-old boy believed to be from Swansea, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 19-year-old boy was taken to hospital for treatment.
Forensic Investigations and Road Closures
All roads closed following the incident have now reopened, except for the lane adjacent to Cecil Road, where a forensic tent has been erected. This location is approximately one mile from the crash site. Forensic investigations are ongoing in the area.
Community Shock and Police Appeal
Residents in Gorseinon have expressed shock. One local said, "It's still very raw," while another added, "There are lots of rumours going around about what happened, a lot of them not true." South Wales Police have urged the public not to share footage of the incident on social media and to respect the privacy of the deceased's family.
Detective Chief Inspector Danielle Thorne of the Major Crime Investigation Team said: "Our thoughts and condolences remain with the family and loved ones of those involved in this incident. We are providing specialist support and ask their privacy is respected during this extremely distressing time."
She thanked the community for their support, including providing water and sun cream to officers, and added: "We are aware of social media footage circulating from this incident, and ask people to not share this for obvious reasons. Our investigation continues and an increased policing presence in the area is likely to be seen for quite some time."

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from between 8am and 2.30pm on July 9 on the following roads: Pen Cae Crwn Road, Pontardulais Road, Brynteg Road, Cecil Road, Heol Y Mynydd, the track road between Cecil Road and Heol Y Mynydd, and Brighton Road.
