Greater Manchester Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in his 30s after a 'violent and shocking' assault in Ashton town centre in the early hours of Saturday, July 11.
Incident Details
Officers responded to reports of an assault on Bow Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, at approximately 2:40 am. Upon arrival, they found a man in his early 30s with serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning, according to a statement from Greater Manchester Police.

In a statement, GMP said: "Upon attendance, we located a man in his early 30s with serious injuries but despite best efforts of emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. One man, aged 36, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning."
Police have described the attack as 'violent and shocking' and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
