Five-Year-Old in Critical Condition After Three-Car Crash

A five-year-old child is fighting for life in hospital after a serious three-car crash in Bannau Brycheiniog on Sunday evening. The collision occurred on the A4067 near Craig-y-Nos, north of Ystradgynlais, at approximately 5:50pm on July 5.

Details of the Collision

According to Dyfed-Powys Police, the crash involved a green Ford Fiesta, a black Volkswagen Polo, and a grey Vauxhall Grandland. Five people were seriously injured and taken to hospital for treatment. The five-year-old child was airlifted by air ambulance with injuries described as life-threatening and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Arrests Made

A 39-year-old man, the driver of the green Ford Fiesta, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and child neglect. A second vehicle, a yellow Ford Fiesta, was later identified as involved, and its driver, a 65-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Both men remain in police custody.

Police Appeal

Dyfed-Powys Police are appealing for information or dashcam footage from anyone who was traveling along the A4067 at the time of the crash. The force spokesman said: "We are appealing for information following a road traffic collision that occurred on the A4067, near Craig-y-Nos, at around 5.50pm on Sunday, July 5."
