A baby's body has been found in a garbage bin in Auburn, in Sydney's west, with police launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
Emergency services were called to a property on Harrow Road just before 3pm on Monday after the body was located. The discovery prompted a significant police presence in the area, with officers establishing a crime scene and beginning inquiries.
Ongoing police inquiry
Detectives from the Cumberland Police Area Command are leading the investigation. They have commenced a forensic examination of the scene and are working to determine how the baby came to be in the bin.
