Wizz Air Rolls Out Convenient Bag Drop Service for Early Morning Travellers

In a move designed to alleviate the pressures of holiday travel, Wizz Air has introduced a new twilight check-in option for passengers flying from London Luton Airport. This innovative service enables UK holidaymakers to check in and deposit their luggage the evening before their early morning departure, providing a smoother start to their journeys.

Timely Launch Amid Peak Travel Period

The service commenced on Monday, 16 February 2026, perfectly timed for the February half-term break. Airports across the UK are anticipating a surge in passenger numbers as families and individuals seek sun-soaked getaways or winter escapes from the chilly British weather. Luton Airport alone is projected to handle approximately 325,000 passengers during this busy week.

Operating hours are set from 9pm to 2am, seven days a week, catering specifically to travellers with flights scheduled up to 9am the following morning. This initiative aims to reduce queues and stress, allowing passengers to begin their holidays with greater ease.

Wizz Air Joins Rivals in Offering Twilight Check-In

Wizz Air becomes the third airline to provide this convenient service at Luton Airport, following in the footsteps of EasyJet and Jet2, which introduced similar options last year. It is worth noting that TUI also offers twilight check-in, though not from Luton, but from other airports such as Gatwick.

Clare Armstrong, Head of Guest Experience at London Luton Airport, emphasised the benefits, stating, "The launch of another twilight check-in service will mean even more passengers can get their travels off to the swiftest and simplest start." She highlighted the airport's ongoing investments in passenger facilities and record customer satisfaction scores.

Popular Destinations and New Routes

During this period, popular destinations from Luton include romantic getaways to Amsterdam, Bologna, and Paris, as well as city breaks to Berlin, Budapest, Lisbon, Prague, and Seville. For those seeking warmer climates, Palma de Mallorca, Murcia, and Malaga are top choices, alongside winter sun hotspots like Lanzarote, Madeira, Antalya, and Dalaman.

To meet growing demand, Wizz Air is expanding its network with new routes from Luton to Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, Valencia, and Seville, starting from 29 March. Similarly, Jet2 will launch five new routes to Corfu, Kos, Preveza, Skiathos, and Menorca from 21 May.

This strategic enhancement by Wizz Air not only improves the passenger experience but also positions the airline competitively during a critical travel season, ensuring travellers can enjoy a hassle-free beginning to their adventures.
