US Flight and Hotel Prices Drop Ahead of World Cup 2026

Travel costs to the United States for the 2026 Men's World Cup, which is being co-hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico, are experiencing a notable decline as demand weakens ahead of the tournament. Flight fares from the United Kingdom to various US destinations have dropped considerably, with an open-jaw itinerary from London to Dallas and returning from New York now priced at £945, down from over £1,000 previously. Even more affordable options are available via connecting flights through Dublin, where a non-stop flight to Dallas and a return from Newark can be secured for £645, a substantial reduction from the earlier price of over £800.

Hotel Rates Also Falling

Hotel rates in major US cities are similarly declining. For instance, a double room in midtown Manhattan has seen a 13 per cent drop, now costing $513 (£377) for a specific date. This trend is not limited to football enthusiasts; non-football fans can also take advantage of lower prices. Return flights from London to Los Angeles are available for around £515 in June, significantly less than the typical £700 to £800 range.

Reasons Behind the Price Drop

The slump in prices is primarily attributed to lower-than-expected demand for travel to the World Cup. Many potential visitors may have been deterred by high initial costs or other factors, leading to a surplus of airline seats and hotel rooms. As a result, travel providers are reducing prices to attract customers. This presents an opportunity for both football fans and general travelers to visit the US at more affordable rates during the tournament period.
