A motoring expert has named the Toyota Yaris as the UK's most reliable used car, praising its longevity, low repair costs, and extensive warranty options. William Fletcher, CEO of car.co.uk, highlighted the Yaris's dependability, noting that thousands of owners report zero faults annually.
Fletcher stated: "The humble Toyota Yaris is one of the most reliable cars on British roads. Backed by Toyota's reputation for durability, it benefits from simple, well-proven engineering." He added that repair costs are typically low, insurance groups modest, and Toyota's warranty can extend up to 10 years when serviced within the network.
American mechanic David Long, known as the Car Wizard, also endorsed the Yaris for new drivers, citing good fuel economy in city driving and reliability. He noted that used models can be found for around £3,050 to £3,815 in good condition.
In the UK, a used Toyota Yaris can be purchased from approximately £1,500, with third-generation models ranging from £2,500 to £3,000. According to RRG, over 715,000 Yarises were sold in the UK between 1999 and 2022, making it one of the most popular small cars. The model also has notable variants, including the GR Yaris hot hatchback.
