New sleeper train services are set to launch across the UK and Europe in 2026, offering travellers more sustainable and luxurious overnight travel options. From Scotland's Caledonian Sleeper extending its route to Birmingham, to a 22-day journey along the Silk Road, the year promises a range of new night train experiences.
As of 15 January, the Caledonian Sleeper now picks up passengers at Birmingham International on its 'Highlander' route, linking the West Midlands with the Scottish Highlands. The service runs nightly except Saturday, stopping at Crewe and Preston before reaching destinations including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Fort William.
European Sleeper will launch a direct night train from Amsterdam and Brussels to Milan from 18 June 2026, with three weekly departures. Stops include Berne, Switzerland and Stresa on Lago Maggiore. Tickets go on sale in January or February.
Luxury options include the Belmond Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, which will run a four-day journey from Paris to the French and Italian Rivieras from 4 May 2026, with prices from around €10,000 per person. Golden Eagle Luxury Trains will offer a 22-day 'Grand Silk Road' itinerary from Beijing to Tashkent from September 2026, with prices from $53,200.
The Luxury Train Travel Company's 'Le Grand Tour' will cover 4,000km across France in six days, stopping at Épernay, Reims, Annecy and Saint-Emilion, from £6,210 per person. Spain's Al Ándalus train will run a new seven-day itinerary from Madrid from April to October 2026, visiting Seville, Córdoba and the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, with prices from €6,600 per person.
