Passengers flying with Ryanair, easyJet and Jet2 are being urged to familiarise themselves with updated check-in regulations ahead of the May bank holidays. The changes aim to streamline airport procedures and account for potential delays from the new EU Entry/Exit System (EES), which may cause longer queues at passport control for non-Schengen destinations.
Ryanair will close check-in and bag drop desks 60 minutes before departure from November 10, 2026, instead of the current 40 minutes. The airline advises passengers to check in online up to two hours before departure to avoid airport check-in fees. Digital boarding passes via the Ryanair App are now mandatory, except for destinations like Morocco and Turkey where printed passes are still required.
Jet2 offers online check-in from 28 days up to six hours before departure, but cannot provide online check-in for flights departing from Turkey. At the airport, check-in desks open at least two and a half hours before departure and close 40 minutes before. Passengers with checked luggage must arrive at least two hours before departure.
EasyJet recommends checking in online from 30 days up to two hours before departure. At the airport, bag drop desks close 40 minutes before departure for most flights, but 60 minutes for flights to certain destinations. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure to allow time for security and passport control.
