The Foreign Office has issued an urgent warning to UK tourists planning to travel to the Netherlands by train, advising them to change their travel plans due to a fire near Rotterdam Central station. The disruption is expected to run until Friday, 3 July 2026.
Eurostar Services Severely Disrupted
Eurostar services between the UK and the Netherlands have been severely disrupted following the fire. Eurostar has advised passengers not to attempt to travel to or from the Netherlands until 3 July. A small number of trains are still running between London St Pancras and Amsterdam, but these must take an alternative route, resulting in significantly longer journey times and reduced seat availability.
Foreign Office Advice
The Foreign Office stated: "Eurostar services between the UK and the Netherlands are severely disrupted following a fire near Rotterdam Central station. Eurostar has advised passengers not to attempt to travel to, or from, the Netherlands on the Eurostar until 3 July 2026." It added that travellers should check the latest information with their travel operator and the Eurostar website before travelling.
Eurostar Statement
Eurostar issued a statement saying: "We strongly advise that you postpone or cancel plans where possible. Exchanges can be made for free, and full refunds are available. We apologise for the inconvenience the situation has caused." The Eurostar line between London and Paris is unaffected, although delays are possible.
Millions of UK tourists visit the Netherlands each year, and this disruption may affect many summer holiday plans. The Foreign Office urges travellers to consider alternative forms of transport.
