Qantas has announced a significant change to its long-haul service between Australia and the United Kingdom, temporarily pausing non-stop flights and introducing a layover in Singapore. The adjustment affects the QF9 route from Perth to London, which previously operated as a direct 17-and-a-half-hour journey.

The airline implemented this stopover starting from 3 March 2026, citing safety concerns related to the evolving Middle East conflict. Qantas stated that the safety of customers and crew is its highest priority, necessitating these flight path adjustments to avoid affected airspace.
