A new direct train service between Liverpool Lime Street and Llandudno has launched, providing a convenient link for travellers. The first service departed at 6.46am on the inaugural day, carrying 24 passengers, including a reporter from the Liverpool Echo.
Among the first passengers were Tommy and Pat Hobart, retired Liverpool residents who had risen early to take the maiden journey. They praised the ease of the new service, which takes approximately one hour and 53 minutes, and noted the scenic views along the Welsh coastline. 'We've been to Llandudno before, but getting there is so easy now,' said Tommy. 'It's great, especially in summer.'
The route includes 14 stops, such as Chester, Prestatyn, Rhyl, and Colwyn Bay, and offers picturesque landscapes from Frodsham onwards. The service is expected to boost tourism and economic ties between Liverpool and North Wales, with Mayor Steve Rotheram highlighting the strengthened partnership.
Local business owners in Llandudno expressed excitement about increased visitors, while residents looked forward to exploring Liverpool. The direct service will run several times daily, with return tickets available from approximately £20 when booked in advance via Transport for Wales.
