Metrolink disruption after car left on tracks near Airport

There is disruption to Metrolink services in south Manchester this evening (Wednesday) after a car was left on the tram tracks.

Services halted between Wythenshawe and Airport

Services had to be halted between Wythenshawe Town Centre and Manchester Airport, on the Airport line, after the car entered the tracks near the Peel Hall stop at around 4:15pm this afternoon.

Firefighters and police officers could be seen at the scene in the aftermath.

Ticket acceptance on buses

Ticket acceptance was put in place on local bus services with trams unable to pass through to the end of the line.

The small, light coloured hatchback was eventually removed with services resuming around 5:30pm however some minor disruption continues.

Bee Network statement

The Bee Network say on their website: "Following a car the tracks, passengers on the Airport Line may experience a minor delay boarding a tram."
