Metrolink services will face further disruption in August as new track renewal works on the Rochdale line are set to begin. The works will last for two weeks.
Service suspension details
No trams will run between Victoria and Rochdale town centre on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16. From Monday, August 17 to Friday, August 28, trams will not operate between Oldham Mumps and Rochdale town centre.
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said a bus replacement service will operate between the affected stops during the works. Any tram ticket valid for all zones of a journey is also valid on a replacement bus, according to TfGM.
Resumption and other works
Tram services are scheduled to resume from the start of service on Saturday, August 29. Separate works at Deansgate-Castlefield and Trafford Bar are expected to finish on August 2 after three weeks of disruption, which led to the closure of the Eccles, Trafford Centre and Altrincham lines.
The ongoing track replacement project involves around 1.6km of track, with the rails being more than 30 years old and at the end of their lifespan. The wider £150m project is described as the biggest upgrade since Metrolink opened in 1992.
