Merseyrail Chester Line Services Cancelled Due to Train Fault

Multiple services on one Merseyrail line have been cancelled today, causing significant disruption for passengers. At 10.41am, Merseyrail announced that services on the Chester line, which runs through Ellesmere Port and Wirral, were facing cancellations or alterations due to a train fault.

The 10.30am train from Chester to Liverpool terminated at Hooton, while the next three services, running into this afternoon, have been cancelled all together. The affected services include the 11.15am Liverpool to Chester train, the 12pm Chester to Liverpool train, and the 12.45pm Liverpool to Chester train.

This disruption could affect thousands of people visiting Wirral today, particularly those taking part in the Port Sunlight 10K run. The event, which includes a 5K at 10am, a 10K at 11am, and a 1K Fun Run for youngsters at approximately 12.30pm, relies heavily on public transport for attendees. Many travellers use Port Sunlight station, and the 11.32am service from the station to Chester has been cancelled due to the fault, with potential further changes expected in the coming hours.
