Train services across the north west are facing 'major disruption' with services across Greater Manchester cancelled and delayed. The issues are widespread and are currently affecting Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway, Northern, TransPennine Express, and Transport for Wales.
Bee Network warning
The Bee Network has issued a warning on its website which reads: "Due to an ongoing rail fault, train services across Greater Manchester and the North West are currently experiencing disruption. Please allow extra time for your journey as rail services will be delayed or cancelled."
More information is available on the National Rail website, which warns that the disruption - also affecting the Midlands - is expected until the end of the day.
Ticket acceptance
People across Greater Manchester have been assured that their rail tickets will be accepted on all Bee Network buses and all Metrolink lines across the region.
National Rail update
In an update shared on X, formerly Twitter, at around 2:20pm, the National Rail warned that trains will be cancelled, delayed or revised for the rest of the day. It reads: "A failure of the electricity supply at a communications centre means trains across the Greater Manchester area, Midlands and North West of England are being disrupted. As a result, trains will be cancelled, delayed or revised."
Power failure at Manchester ROC
The Bee Network has issued a statement following the major disruption across the railway. "Due to a power failure at the Manchester Rail Operating Centre (ROC), there is major disruption on the rail network across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and the Midlands," the Bee Network says. "Delays and cancellations are expected on all operator routes across Greater Manchester until the end of today (Thursday 6th August). Rail operators have issued a do not travel notice with travel advice and the latest information on the National Rail website."
It adds: "Ticket acceptance is in place on all Bee Network buses and Metrolink services across Greater Manchester for rail passengers affected. More information can be found on the TfGM website."
