Ryanair has issued a statement after a flight from Dublin to Manchester was met by firefighters upon landing at Manchester Airport on Thursday evening. The aircraft, flight RK558, touched down at Terminal 3 shortly after 6pm on March 19 following what the airline described as a 'minor tech issue'.
Emergency services were called as a precaution, and operations at the airport were suspended for approximately seven minutes while the incident was dealt with. Reports indicated that smoke was seen coming from the plane, though Ryanair has not confirmed this detail.
A spokesperson for the airline said on Friday: 'Flight RK558 from Dublin to Manchester (March 19) experienced a minor tech issue upon landing. Passengers and crew disembarked normally, and the aircraft was towed back to stand to be inspected by Ryanair engineers.'
The incident caused a brief disruption to airport operations, but normal services resumed shortly after the aircraft was moved. No injuries were reported.
