Man United Enlists Angry Ginge for Third Kit Launch

Manchester United have enlisted the help of content creator and I'm a Celebrity winner Angry Ginge to unveil their new third kit, which draws inspiration from the iconic Salford Lads Club. The Salford-born United fan, known for his passionate support, was spotted filming alongside first-team players Matheus Cunha, Amad Diallo, and Lisandro Martinez near the historic venue last week.

Design Inspired by Local Landmark

The third kit, manufactured by adidas, pays homage to the signage at Salford Lads Club, which famously appeared on the inside cover of The Smiths' 1986 album The Queen is Dead. The sign features two red roses of Lancashire set against a green background, adorning the entrance of the red-brick building. These colours are expected to be incorporated into the kit design, which officials hope will match the commercial success of this season's black number—a throwback to the shirt worn between 1993 and 1995.

Release Timing and Commercial Strategy

Third kits are typically launched late in the summer, just before the new season. However, insiders suggest that the new strip will feature prominent nods to the Lads Club signage. Last week, Daily Mail Sport revealed that United will debut their new home shirt in the final two matches of the current season: this Sunday against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford and on May 24 at Brighton.

In 2023, Manchester United extended their partnership with adidas through June 2035, a 10-year deal worth a minimum of £900 million. The collaboration, which began in 2015-16, marks a continuation of a relationship that previously saw adidas supply United's kits from 1980 to 1992.

Angry Ginge's Role

Angry Ginge, a prominent United fan from Salford, brings local authenticity to the campaign. His involvement underscores the club's effort to connect with its grassroots fanbase while leveraging the cultural significance of the Salford Lads Club, a landmark immortalised by The Smiths. The content creator's social media reach and recent reality TV fame are expected to amplify the kit's launch.
