Emergency services are dealing with a fire near the railway tracks in Newport after it was reported near Lighthouse Road at around 3:30pm, causing service cancellations that will last for the rest of the day.
Railway closed between Cardiff and Newport
Network Rail reported a lineside fire between Cardiff Central and Newport and closed the railway to all services. National Rail has warned that "major disruption" is likely to last until the end of the day, with no trains running between Newport and Cardiff.
Transport for Wales said: "We strongly advise customers to not attempt to travel between Cardiff Central and Newport in both directions. You cannot travel by train - there are no trains running at this time." A very limited number of Rail Replacement Bus Services are running between Cardiff Central and Newport.

Emergency services, including South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Gwent Police, are dealing with the fire on Lighthouse Road. Gwent Police asked local residents to ensure all doors and windows are closed, and diversions are in place to ensure drivers' safety.
Signals and overhead power affected
The severity of the fire has affected the signalling along the line and the overhead power. Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.
