M6 northbound traffic is being held near Wigan this morning (August 1) after animals were reported on the carriageway. All vehicles have been stopped between junction 27 at Standish and junction 28 at Leyland.
A rolling road block is in place, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring service. A post from Inrix said: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to rolling road block and animals on road on M6 Northbound from J27 A5209 Crow Orchard Road (Standish) to J28 B5256 Leyland Way (Leyland)."
Queues building
Traffic cameras show stationary traffic close to the scene, with queues building up. According to Google traffic data, queues are starting to back up past junction 27.
