Drivers heading towards Greater Manchester are facing huge delays on the M6 southbound following a fire. Two lanes of traffic have been closed between junction 28 at Leyland and junction 27 at Standish.
Crews at the scene
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is working at the scene to bring the blaze under control, according to National Highways. An image from the scene shows a vehicle with severe fire damage to its front end.
Long queues build
There are currently 50-minute queues on the motorway, with traffic tailing back for three miles. Traffic cameras show long lines of vehicles on the approach to the closure.
