The M5 motorway in Gloucestershire has come to a standstill following a serious collision that occurred on Tuesday morning. The northbound carriageway is closed between junction 11 (Gloucester) and junction 9 (Tewkesbury), with emergency services currently at the scene.

According to reports from Gloucestershire Live, a biker is believed to have been involved in the crash and may have sustained potentially serious injuries. National Highways has confirmed that the stretch of motorway is expected to remain closed for several hours as investigations continue.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix reported the incident at 10:10 am, stating: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M5 Northbound from J10 A4019 (Cheltenham) to J9 A46 (Tewkesbury)."
In a later update, National Highways added: "The #M5 northbound between J11 (#Gloucester) and J9 (#Tewkesbury) remains closed due to a serious collision. Southbound traffic is currently being held between J9 and J10 so emergency services can work safely at the scene. There are delays of 10 minutes on the approach."
