A multi-vehicle crash on the M4 near Cardiff is causing significant delays for motorists on Tuesday evening, as Wales experiences its hottest day of the year with temperatures approaching 30C.
Collision Blocks Two Lanes and Slip Road
According to Traffic Wales, which monitors roads across Wales, two lanes and a slip road are blocked on the eastbound carriageway between junction 34 Miskin and junction 33 Capel Llanilltern. The slip road and lanes one and two are closed due to the collision.
Traffic monitoring system Inrix described the incident as a multi-vehicle accident, stating: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to multi-vehicle accident on M4 eastbound from J34 A4119 (Miskin) to J33 A4232 (Cardiff West And Services)." It added that lane 2 of the offslip road at junction 33 is also closed.
Emergency Services and Traffic Cameras Show Scene
Traffic cameras show emergency services at the scene, with lanes cordoned off. Heavy traffic is visible around junction 34 Miskin, though conditions are less congested eastbound near junction 35 Pencoed. Congestion is also reported on the opposite side due to onlookers, causing delays on the A4232 northbound approach.
Traffic Wales issued an update at 5.45pm confirming traffic officers were en route to the scene.

The crash comes as Wales sees the hottest day of the year, with temperatures close to 30C. Motorists are advised to expect delays and consider alternative routes.
