M4 Crash Near Bristol Airport Causes Major Delays

A serious collision on the M4 near Bristol Airport has led to significant travel disruption, with the motorway closed in both directions and queues stretching across the Severn Bridge. The crash occurred shortly before 5am on the Prince of Wales Bridge near Almondsbury.

National Highways has warned that the road is expected to remain closed through the morning due to the severity of the incident. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that emergency services are at the scene of a serious injury collision, which has fully closed the M4 between junctions 22 and 21.

Motorists are facing delays of at least an hour, with diversions in place. Eastbound traffic is advised to exit at J22 and take the M49 southbound to the M5, while westbound traffic should exit at J21 and use the M48 across the Severn Bridge. The disruption is also affecting travellers heading to Bristol Airport, with the airport warning of delays expected to clear between 0830 and 0845.
