Several London rail services are seriously disrupted after a person was hit by a train. The incident has shut lines between London and Stevenage and is expected to cause major disruption until 4pm, according to National Rail.
Services impacted after person hit by train
A number of rail services are being impacted by the closures between London and Stevenage today. Services across Great Northern and Thameslink are expected to be subject to delays of at least 60 minutes and may be cancelled. LNER have confirmed that they have requested replacement buses, and will provide further information once more is known. Operators affected include Thameslink, Lumo, LNER and Grand Central Rail.
Tube and Overground update
A normal service has now resumed on the Northern line following the earlier signal failure. Across the Underground network, there are minor delays on the Central, Jubilee, and Metropolitan lines. Meanwhile on the Overground, the Windrush line remains part suspended and there are minor delays on the Mildmay line. The Windrush line is not running between Surrey Quays and New Cross, according to TfL.
c2c and Metropolitan line disruptions
Speed restrictions across the c2c network means that trains are running at a reduced speed. Trains across the c2c network may be cancelled, delayed, or be unable to call at all scheduled stations while the speed restrictions are in place. According to National Rail, the disruption is expected “until further notice”. This is affecting all c2c routes to and from London Fenchurch Street. A second signal failure has hit the Metropolitan line this morning, with the line now suspended between Moor Park and Watford due to the failure at Watford. There are still severe delays on the rest of the line due to the earlier signal failure at Harrow-on-the-Hill.
