Several train services at Liverpool Lime Street are facing major disruption due to the hot weather, Northern Railway has confirmed. The operator reported "major disruption" on six routes, including Buxton - Manchester Piccadilly, Leeds - Hebden Bridge - Manchester Victoria, Manchester Airport - St Helens Jn - Liverpool, Manchester Oxford Road - Bolton - Wigan - Southport, Manchester Vic - Atherton - Wigan, and York - Knaresborough - Harrogate - Leeds.
Extreme Heat Forecast
Temperatures are set to reach 33C in Liverpool and the surrounding area today, with the hottest day expected on Thursday where highs of 38C are forecast. The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for Merseyside, which will come into force and remain in place until midnight on Thursday. A red warning will be in place between 9am on Wednesday to 9pm on Thursday for some areas in England.

Passengers are advised to check before travelling as services may be cancelled, delayed, or revised. Northern Railway stated that speed restrictions are in place due to the heat, causing extended journey times. The disruption is expected to continue throughout the week as the heatwave persists.
