Road closures have been confirmed for the Junior and Mini Great North Run, which take place on Saturday, September 12, ahead of the main event's 45th anniversary on Sunday.
The events are part of the wider Great North Run weekend, which begins on Friday with the Great North 5k along Newcastle Quayside and over to Gateshead. The Junior and Mini runs are expected to attract large turnouts of young runners, as they have in previous years.
Event details and activities
The day will feature special guests, Gladiators, and activities for families. The Mini run covers 1.2km for ages 3–8, while the Junior run is a 4km challenge for ages 9–16. Both offer a chance to experience the Great North Run atmosphere without completing the full 13.1-mile course.
