Jet2, one of the UK's largest airlines, has outlined specific rules for passengers travelling with children and babies. The airline requires that all passengers under 14 years old be accompanied by someone aged 16 or over who takes full responsibility. Unaccompanied travel is only permitted for those aged 14 and above.
For destinations such as Portugal (including Madeira), minors under 18 travelling without a parent or legal guardian must carry a signed letter of authorisation. This letter should include the minor's temporary address and contact details for the responsible adult. Jet2 recommends carrying a copy of the signatory's photo ID for verification.
Families can bring up to two items per child or infant free of charge, including prams, car seats, baby carriers, and travel cots, each weighing no more than 32kg. Additional items will incur excess baggage charges.
Infants under two years old fly free of charge if seated on an adult's lap using an airline-provided extension seatbelt. Those aged 2–7 days require prior approval from Jet2, and infants under 2 days old cannot be carried. For bookings made before an infant's name is confirmed, use 'Unborn' as the first name and 'Baby' as the last name; Jet2 will update it free of charge once confirmed.
If a hold bag is added to the booking, the allowance automatically increases by 10kg per infant. For infants seated in their own seat, a car seat meeting criteria is required; contact Jet2 Customer Service for guidance and costs.
