A Jet2 flight bound for the French Riviera from Manchester was forced to turn back after reportedly experiencing a "technical issue" at 37,000ft.
Flight Details
Flight LS833, operated by a Boeing 737-800, departed Manchester Airport at approximately 1.23pm yesterday (August 3). The aircraft's flight path initially appeared normal, travelling across England towards France.
U-Turn and Safe Landing
However, as the plane neared the Channel, the pilots seemingly executed a U-turn and headed back towards Manchester. The diverted flight touched down safely at the airport shortly afterwards.
According to Airlive.net, no injuries were reported aboard the aircraft, which landed safely at Manchester Airport just under three hours after departure.
Technical Glitch and Passenger Continuation
The website reports that the decision to return to Manchester followed an "unexpected technical glitch". Jet2 has been approached for comment, reports the Irish Mirror.
At approximately 4pm, passengers were able to continue their journey to France aboard a replacement aircraft, eventually arriving in Nice at 7.38pm.
