A Jet2 flight from Manchester to Nice was forced to turn back after a reported technical issue at 37,000ft.
Flight details
Flight LS833, operated by a Boeing 737-800, departed Manchester Airport at approximately 1.23pm on Saturday (August 3). The aircraft's flight path initially appeared normal as it made its way across England towards France.
However, as the aircraft neared the Channel, the pilots executed a U-turn, heading back towards Manchester. The diverted flight touched down safely at the airport shortly afterwards.
Safe landing and passenger impact
Airlive.net reported that no passengers were injured, with the plane landing safely at Manchester Airport just under three hours after its initial departure. The aviation news site attributed the decision to return to Manchester to an 'unexpected technical glitch'.
By around 4pm, passengers were able to continue their journey to France aboard a replacement aircraft, eventually touching down in Nice at 7.38pm.
