A Jet2 flight traveling from Liverpool to Spain declared an emergency mid-air on Thursday morning, prompting a diversion to Manchester Airport. The Boeing 737-800 had departed from Liverpool John Lennon Airport and was heading to Palma de Mallorca Airport when the incident occurred.

Real-time aviation alert service Squawk reported on X that the aircraft issued a 7700 general emergency alert at an altitude of 12,875 feet near Manchester. According to Flightradar24, the 8am flight altered its course near Shrewsbury, turning back towards Liverpool before landing at Manchester.
Passenger Account
A passenger traveling to Palma with his wife, brother, and sister-in-law told the ECHO that the plane landed safely. He described a sudden vibration and increased noise shortly after takeoff, but said passengers remained calm. The captain informed them of an issue about 15 minutes into the flight and reassured everyone.
The passenger added that Jet2 arranged for another flight to continue the journey to Palma around 11.25am. A spokesperson for Manchester Airport confirmed the aircraft landed safely.
