A significant fire erupted at a shop near Copeland Park in Peckham on Thursday evening, prompting a large-scale response from the London Fire Brigade. Fifteen fire engines and approximately 100 firefighters were dispatched to the blaze on Rye Lane, with thick black smoke visible billowing into the sky.

The London Fire Brigade confirmed that the fire involved a shop and a storage unit, though the exact location has not yet been specified. Two of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders were deployed as water towers to combat the flames from above. Control officers received the first of over 30 emergency calls at 20:54.
