Eurostar Snap Tickets: Up to 50% Off with Flexible Travel
Eurostar Snap: Up to 50% Off with Flexible Travel

A lesser-known version of the Eurostar website could help travellers secure city breaks to Paris, Amsterdam, or Brussels at significantly reduced prices. By simply altering four letters in the web address, passengers may save up to 50% on their tickets, though there is a notable trade-off in flexibility.

How the Discounted Ticketing Works

According to a representative from Martin Lewis's MoneySavingExpert (MSE) team, swapping the usual 'www' with 'snap' in the Eurostar URL directs customers to a site offering last-minute fares at a fraction of the standard cost. These tickets can be purchased up to two weeks in advance and are often much cheaper than selecting a specific departure time. For instance, a London to Paris ticket could be available for as little as £50.

The Catch: Limited Time Control

The main drawback is minimal control over departure times. Passengers choose between two slots: trains leaving between 6am and 1pm, or 1pm and 8pm. At least 48 hours before travel, Eurostar confirms the exact time. The MSE team member noted that their choice saved approximately £80 compared to standard booking.

These tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable, so passengers must accept that seats may be allocated on very early or late departures. The representative described it as a 'no risk, no reward' travel hack, emphasising that money cannot be recovered once booked.

Eligibility and Destinations

Eurostar Snap deals cover journeys from London to Paris, Lille, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Brussels. A maximum of four adult tickets can be booked at a time, and children under four can travel free on an adult's lap (one per adult). However, children cannot be booked on Snap deals as seating together cannot be guaranteed; last-minute tickets are for passengers aged 16 and over.

Passengers can book as many times as they like for both directions between various city pairs, including London-Paris, London-Brussels, and Paris-Amsterdam.

Embracing Spontaneity

The Eurostar Snap website encourages flexibility: 'Get ready to embrace that pack your bags, we're off feeling. With Snap, you can book a spur-of-the-moment trip to one of Europe's most exciting cities and still enjoy the same great experience on board. You pick your travel dates and time slot, we pick your train times, and you get up to 50% off the price of your tickets. Sometimes it pays to be spontaneous.'

The site adds that if you can be flexible with travel times, this deal is ideal. Up to three friends can be invited, though seating together is not guaranteed.
