Eurostar has cancelled a number of trains between London and Paris this week as extreme heat sweeps across the UK and France. The operator cited 'adverse weather conditions' for the disruption, with temperatures in London forecast to reach 38C and Paris expecting highs above 40C.
Affected services and passenger options
Two services per day on the London St Pancras International to Paris Gare du Nord route have been cancelled from Monday 22 June to Thursday 25 June. No Friday cancellations have been announced yet, but the situation may change as temperatures rise later in the week.
Affected passengers can rebook for a later time or date, or claim a full refund. Eurostar apologised for the disruption, stating: 'Due to expected adverse weather on the Eurostar network, your train is cancelled. We're so sorry for the disruption and any inconvenience caused.'
Record-breaking temperatures expected
The UK is set to experience its hottest June day on record, with highs of up to 38C. This would surpass the previous record of 35.6C set in Southampton in 1976. Paris is already experiencing 37C, with temperatures expected to exceed 40C later in the week.
The heatwave is part of a broader pattern of extreme weather across Europe, with several countries issuing health warnings and advising residents to take precautions.
