Eurostar Cancelled After Rotterdam Fire Disrupts Services

Several Eurostar services from London have been cancelled after a fire near Rotterdam Centraal station caused a power failure, with disruption expected to last until at least Friday, July 3, 2026. The fire, which occurred at a substation, has severely impacted rail services across the Netherlands, including Eurostar journeys from London St Pancras to Amsterdam.

Eurostar Advises Passengers Not to Travel

Eurostar stated on its website: 'We're very sorry that, due to a fire near station Rotterdam Centraal, train services across the Netherlands are currently severely disrupted and extremely limited. As a result, our trains are subject to significant delays and cancellations, and we're unfortunately unable to offer alternative travel options. This situation will continue until 3rd July 2026. We recommend that you do not attempt to travel to or from the Netherlands until 3rd July. Instead, please cancel your journey or postpone it to a later date.'

Compensation Options for Affected Travelers

Customers with affected journeys can exchange their booking for a different train for a fee. Alternatively, affected travellers can cancel completely and claim an e-voucher, which must be redeemed within 12 months of the original journey date. They can also cancel and request a cash refund for the ticket value. Claims must be made within three months of the scheduled travel date.

Power Restoration Timeline

According to local media, power is expected to be restored in the area around Rotterdam Centraal on the evening of July 2. The power failure has also disrupted all rail services in and around the Dutch city.

Rerouted Services and Delays

Trains that are still running, including Netherlands-Brussels-Paris services, are being rerouted via Utrecht, causing delays of up to one hour. Eurostar expressed its 'full support' to affected passengers and urged those headed to Amsterdam or Rotterdam not to make unnecessary journeys.
