EasyJet to launch Starlink-powered in-flight Wi-Fi

EasyJet has announced it will offer passengers on-board Wi-Fi for the first time from next year, delivered through Elon Musk's Starlink satellite communications system. The rollout across the airline's A320 and A321 fleets is expected to begin in the first half of next year and be completed by early 2028.

Connectivity from take-off to landing

EasyJet's chief executive, Kenton Jarvis, said: "In an increasingly digital world, staying connected matters more than ever to many of our customers, whether that's holidaymakers looking to unwind with in-flight entertainment, or our business customers keeping up to speed with what's happening on the ground.

"Innovation is in easyJet's DNA and partnering with SpaceX to bring Starlink's high-speed internet connectivity onboard for the first time will not only further enhance the experience we provide millions of customers, but means we are offering more of the options both business and leisure travellers want when they choose who they fly with."

Gwynne Shotwell, president and chief operating officer of SpaceX, said: "We're proud to bring Starlink on board easyJet and transform the way their customers stay connected throughout their travels. Fast, reliable connectivity from take-off to landing means people can work, stream or stay in touch without interruption."

Industry-wide adoption

EasyJet carried a total of 100 million passengers in 2025 and is one of Europe's largest airlines. Starlink also reached an agreement with another major airline last year. In November 2025, British Airways said it would offer free onboard Wi-Fi with streaming-level speeds, starting from this year, following a new agreement between its parent company and Musk's firm.

The airline's parent company, International Airlines Group, signed a deal with Starlink to install the service on more than 500 aircraft across its carriers. British Airways' announcement came as part of a "£7 billion transformation".

Pricing and availability

Sean Doyle, British Airways' chief executive, said: "We're continuing to focus on transforming our customer experience.

"Launching Starlink on both our long-haul and short-haul aircraft is game-changing for our customers and us, elevating their experience on board our flights by offering them seamless connectivity from gate to gate.

"Especially on short-haul, this will really differentiate us from our competitors. With our new Wi-Fi powered by Starlink, our customers will be able to enjoy lightning-fast, low-lag internet from the moment they board to the moment they land - even over oceans and remote regions. It's Wi-Fi that feels like home, even at 38,000 feet."

The deal means that free text-based messaging is available to loyalty club members, while packages that allow passengers to stream music, videos, and films cost between £4.99 and £21.99, depending on the duration. At this time, the list of airlines offering completely free wifi for their passengers includes JetBlue Airways, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Virgin Australia, and Qantas.
