EasyJet is permanently cancelling all flights from Leeds Bradford Airport, with operations ceasing from January 5, 2027. The budget airline is axing all routes from the airport to focus on services it describes as "more popular" with customers.
Affected Routes
Current routes from Leeds Bradford Airport affected by the decision include Barcelona, Majorca, Malaga, Paris, Geneva and Belfast. EasyJet launched its first flight from the airport in 2010 to Geneva, followed by Belfast in 2021 and Paris in 2024.
The airline said in a statement: "Following a review of our routes from Leeds Bradford Airport, we have made the decision to no longer operate flights from the airport after 5 January." It added: "Our focus is on maintaining and developing routes which prove most popular with customers."
Customer Options and Context
EasyJet said it has contacted customers with flights booked beyond that date, offering options including free transfer to other flights or refunds. The airline also stated: "We value the relationship we have built with Leeds Bradford Airport and we always keep options for our network under review, with the aim of providing more choice and connectivity where we see demand."
The announcement comes two weeks after EasyJet announced it was to be taken over in a £5.7 billion deal by private equity firm Apollo. Increased expenses in jet fuel and lower bookings have also caused a 70% fall in profits for the firm.
Airport Developments and Other Airlines
Last year, Leeds Bradford Airport opened its new £100 million terminal expansion, which includes more retail space, seating and new lounges. Other airlines still operating from the airport include Ryanair and Jet2.
