Derby Street in Ormskirk will be closed for more than 10 days from Monday, August 3 to Friday, August 14, 2026, to allow sewer repair works to be carried out. The closure applies to the short section outside numbers 24 to 26, with working times scheduled from 8am to 4.30pm each day, or until the repairs are completed, Lancashire County Council said.
The temporary prohibition of through traffic means motor vehicles will not be able to pass through the works area. Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times, and vehicular access for residents will be provided whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will remain throughout.
Diversion Route
A signed diversion will be in place via key routes, including:
- A59 County Road and High Lane
- A5209
- A49
- A577
Traffic may use the same route in reverse depending on direction of travel.
Access and Impact
The council states vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible, and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Emergency services access will be maintained, but bus services may be diverted. Passengers should check with their operator for service updates.
