Defrost Your Car Windscreen Twice as Fast with This Simple Forgotten Switch
Defrost car windscreen twice as fast with simple hack

Frustrated drivers are wasting precious minutes on cold mornings by idling their engines, unaware of a simple trick that can clear a foggy windscreen in half the time.

The Forgotten Switch That Speeds Up Defrosting

Industry specialists have highlighted a remarkably straightforward method to banish mist and condensation from car windows "twice as quickly". While most motorists instinctively reach for the windscreen demister button or turn up the air conditioning, experts say there is a more effective approach readily available in every vehicle.

The Swansway Motor Group has shared the simple hack: just wind down your car windows. This action swiftly "reduces condensation" by allowing cold, dry air from outside to flood the cabin. Conveniently, the window controls are located right by the driver's seat, eliminating any fumbling during the hectic morning rush.

Why This Method Works Better

In a YouTube video, Sam, a spokesman for Swansway, explained that this technique can be superior, especially for vehicles without functioning air conditioning. "To remedy this simply roll down all of the windows within the car," he advised. "This allows all of the cold and dry air to flood into the vehicle, helping to reduce the condensation and getting you on your way twice as quick."

This advice is backed by motoring retail giant Halfords. Their experts confirm that increasing the flow of outside air decreases the level of water vapour inside the car, which prevents the windscreen and other windows from fogging up in the first place.

One Crucial Safety Warning

Halfords also issued an important safety tip to maximise the hack's effectiveness. "While your car is demisting, stand outside of it. Your breath is warm and wet which will not help the process," they advised. However, they added a critical caveat: "don't leave the car unattended with the keys inside, as this is an opportunity for thieves to steal your car."

So, on your next frosty morning, skip the long wait with the engine running. This forgotten use of your window switches could be the key to a faster, clearer start to your day.
