Cyclist dies in Dukinfield crash; driver arrested

Emergency services were called to Yew Tree Lane in Dukinfield, Tameside, shortly before 1pm on Monday afternoon (August 3) following a collision involving a car and a bicycle.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and remains in custody for questioning this morning (Tuesday).

Road closed and air ambulance at scene

The road was closed off on Monday afternoon as police enquiries took place. An air ambulance was seen in attendance as part of the emergency response.

Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for information. Anyone with dashcam, CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage from the area is urged to come forward.
