Multiple passengers suffered heat exhaustion after a trespasser jumped onto the tracks, trapping concertgoers on a London Underground train for 90 minutes.
Ordeal on the Metropolitan line
Crowds heading home from a Bruno Mars concert at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday, July 28, had flooded the Tube when the train became stuck at around 11:15pm. It eventually reached Finchley Road station at 12:45am.
A social media post from a parent of an affected concertgoer said passengers were left stranded in London after missing their connecting train home, with many suffering heat exhaustion.
Driver's reassurance and TfL response
Footage posted to TikTok showed the driver trying to reassure passengers, telling them: "I want to go home, just like you guys do." Another clip showed passengers slumped on the floor while waiting for the train to move.
Transport for London (TfL) workers were forced to switch the current off on the track while emergency services worked to remove the trespasser.
A TfL spokesperson said: "We apologise to Metropolitan line customers for the disruption to their journeys following the Bruno Mars concert on Tuesday evening. This was caused by a trespasser on the line, which meant the traction current had to be switched off while the emergency services worked to remove the individual involved."
