Cardiff's Leckwith Road Shut Amid Heatwave and Concert Traffic

Leckwith Road, a major Cardiff route, was closed in both directions during rush hour on Thursday evening, June 25, as emergency services responded to an accident. The closure occurred near Cardiff City Stadium, with traffic queuing from the Leckwith Interchange to The Green.

Concert and Heatwave Compound Disruption

The road closure coincided with thousands of concertgoers heading to Cardiff Castle for a McFly performance, while commuters faced a scorching evening commute as Cardiff recorded highs of 35°C.

South Wales Police issued a statement around 5pm: "We're at the scene of an incident on Leckwith Road. The road is currently closed from Leckwith towards Cardiff Centre and at the roundabout in Leckwith." They added: "Please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible."
