A major emergency response is under way in Burscough, West Lancashire, after reports that a train collided with a vehicle this afternoon. Emergency services rushed to the scene near Martin Lane, where a Northern train came to a halt.
Images from the scene show several ambulances and a fire engine, with what appears to be a badly damaged vehicle close to the train. Passengers are reported to be waiting on board to be safely evacuated by emergency services, with one person on the train saying all passengers were okay.
