Buc-ee's, the popular U.S. rest-stop chain, is expanding its footprint with plans to open stores in seven new states. The chain currently operates over 50 gas stations across 12 states and boasts the world's largest convenience store, spanning 75,000 square feet with 120 gas pumps.

New Locations and Opening Dates

Buc-ee's has confirmed opening dates for its first-ever locations in several states, as reported by Fox. The new stores will be in Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

  • Goodyear, Arizona – June 22, 2026 (74,000 sq ft near I-10 and Bullard Avenue)
  • Huber Heights, Ohio – 2026
  • Benton, Arkansas – August 2026 (near I-30 and State Highway 299)
  • Ruston, Louisiana – 2027
  • Kansas City, Kansas – 2027
  • Mebane, North Carolina – 2027
  • Oak Creek, Wisconsin – 2027

Additionally, stores in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and San Marcos, Texas, are expected to open by the end of 2026, according to Buc-ee's website. Further expansions in Louisiana, Arkansas, Kentucky, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina are planned from 2028 to 2031.

Buc-ee's Cult Following

The chain is known for its roadside snacks, including BBQ brisket sandwiches and Beaver Nuggets, as well as its clean bathrooms and friendly beaver mascot. It has garnered a devoted fan base across the country.

Fast-Food Expansion Trend

Buc-ee's is not alone in its growth plans. McDonald's aims to open 50,000 restaurants in the U.S. by the end of 2027, a target set in 2023. McDonald's President and CEO Chris Kempczinski stated, "We have a clear trajectory for future growth." Global CFO Ian Borden reaffirmed confidence in reaching that goal during a recent earnings call.
