Amazon has announced plans to expand its 'ultra-fast' 30-minute delivery service, Amazon Now, to dozens of cities across the United States. The service, already available in major locations such as Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth, Philadelphia and Seattle, will now be extended to tens of millions more customers by the end of the year.
In a statement, the online retailer said it was 'rapidly expanding' the offer to cities including Austin, Houston, Minneapolis, Orlando, Phoenix, Denver and Oklahoma City. However, unless users have a Prime membership, the service comes with a significant delivery cost.
Non-Prime customers will be charged a £10.99 fee (based on $13.99) per order, compared to £3.14 for Prime members. An additional fee will be applied to smaller orders under £11.80: an extra £3.14 for those without Prime or £1.57 for members. Products available include dairy and eggs, fresh produce, electronics and personal care items such as soap and toothpaste.
The feature is accessible via a banner on the Amazon app or homepage in areas where the service is available. The company says it uses a number of smaller locations near where customers live or work to guarantee the fast turnaround.
Amazon’s other speedy delivery options include Prime Air drone delivery, with drop-offs in under 60 minutes across nine locations. One to three hour delivery and same-day options are also available across much of the country. The retailer delivered more than 13 billion items on the same day or the next day globally in 2025, with eight billion of those in the US.
'Amazon Now is for when you need or want the convenience of getting your Amazon order delivered in 30 minutes or less,' said Udit Madan, senior vice president of Amazon Worldwide Operations. 'With thousands of items available for ultra-fast delivery, you can get everything from groceries for dinner, to AirPods before a flight, to household essentials like laundry detergent or toothpaste delivered right to your door.'
