A woman has been seriously injured after being hit by a lorry on the Rochdale Bypass (A664) this afternoon. The incident occurred at around 2.30pm, prompting a major emergency response including an air ambulance, paramedics, and police.
The road remains closed in both directions between Reservoir Street and Roch Street, with a large cordon in place. A heavy goods vehicle with hazard lights flashing has been seen within the cordon, although it is not yet confirmed if this was the vehicle involved.
Greater Manchester Police have been approached for a statement. Serious Collision Officers are at the scene conducting investigations, and the road is expected to remain closed for some time.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix reports very slow traffic in the area due to the closure. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
