Major Rochdale Road Sealed Off Following Serious Incident
A significant police incident has led to the complete closure of the Rochdale Bypass, a key route in Greater Manchester. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were scrambled to the A664 on the afternoon of 12 November 2025.
The road has been taped off in both directions, with a large police cordon established between Reservoir Street and Roch Street. Officers remain on the scene alongside ambulances and specialist incident response units.
HGV and Collision Reports at the Centre of the Inquiry
Initial reports from the scene indicate that the major police response was triggered by a collision. While details are still emerging, a large Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) has been photographed and is a focal point of the police investigation within the cordon.
Images from the scene show the stationary lorry with its hazard lights flashing. The exact circumstances of the incident and whether the HGV was directly involved in a collision remain unclear at this stage.
Severe Traffic Disruption in the Area
The closure of the Rochdale Bypass, also known as Albert Royds Street, has caused significant travel chaos. According to the live traffic service Inrix, drivers are experiencing 'very slow traffic' in the area.
Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the vicinity and seek alternative routes for the foreseeable future as the emergency services continue their work at the location.
