Three flight attendants were taken to hospital on Friday morning after a Delta Air Lines flight encountered severe turbulence during its descent into Sydney. The incident occurred on Flight 41 from Los Angeles, which was carrying 245 passengers and 15 crew members.
The Airbus A350 experienced the rough air shortly before landing, resulting in injuries to four crew members. No passengers were reported injured. The plane touched down at approximately 6:40am local time, with ambulances called to the airport around 6:45am.
Ambulance NSW reported that those injured included a woman in her 60s and a man in his 70s with back pain, a woman in her 30s with headache and back pain, a woman in her 70s with knee pain, and another person with eye pain. Three crew members were taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with minor injuries, including back pain.
A Delta spokesperson said: “Nothing is more important than the safety of our people and our customers, and our priority is taking care of the impacted crew members.” The flight had been due to arrive from the south-west but diverted north-west about 50km from the coast to approach from the north.
