A 15-year-old boy has lost his life in a devastating collision on the M60 motorway near Stockport, leaving the community in shock.

Emergency services rushed to the scene between junctions 1 and 3 of the anti-clockwise carriageway late last night, but despite their best efforts, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an urgent appeal for information following the tragic incident. Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision or events leading up to it.

Sergeant John Harrison of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "This is an absolutely heartbreaking incident, and our thoughts are with the boy's family at this unimaginably difficult time."

The motorway was closed for several hours overnight as accident investigators examined the scene. Specialist officers remain at the location today conducting thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
