Teenager, 15, Dies on M60 Near Stockport

A 15-year-old boy has died following an incident on the M60 motorway near Stockport, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed. Officers were called to reports of a concern for welfare on Sunday, July 20, and the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The motorway was closed in both directions between junction 19 for Middleton and junction 22 for Chadderton after the incident near junction 20, which occurred just after 5pm. The closure caused severe disruption, with the road reopening around 4am on Monday.

The incident impacted thousands of Oasis fans travelling to the band's final homecoming concert at Heaton Park. Some fans abandoned their cars and walked along the carriageway in an attempt to reach the venue.

GMP advised motorists to avoid the area and warned of severe delays. National Highways stated that the closure was expected to last for a protracted period due to the serious incident, with North West Ambulance Service also in attendance.
