The Kazungula Bridge: Where You Can See Four Countries at Once

A remarkable bridge over the Zambezi River offers a unique geographical experience: the chance to see four countries simultaneously. The Kazungula Quadripoint, where Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe lie within a few hundred metres of each other, is a rare marvel.

The 923-metre Kazungula Bridge connects Zambia and Botswana, but its design respects complex border boundaries, placing it within touching distance of Namibia and Zimbabwe. Visitors can stand on the bridge and see Zimbabwe just metres away on one side and Namibia across the river.

Before the bridge was built, crossing between Zambia and Botswana relied on a notoriously slow ferry service. The new structure has transformed travel in the region.

For a similar multi-country view closer to home, the Hoher Kasten mountain in the Swiss Alps offers panoramic views of Germany, Austria, Italy and France on a clear day. A cable car from Brülisau reaches the summit in just eight minutes.
