Winter Caravan Holiday Exceeds Expectations at Haven Devon Cliffs
Why a Winter Caravan Holiday Surprised This Family

When journalist Ben Whisson and his family set off for a three-night stay at Haven's Devon Cliffs Holiday Park in November, they were prepared for a quiet, possibly underwhelming, off-season break. What they discovered, however, was a vibrant destination that completely surpassed their expectations.

A Warm Welcome in the Off-Season

Arriving at the expansive park in Devon, any initial apprehension about a winter caravan holiday quickly faded. The family checked into their accommodation, an Emerald grade lodge, which was spotless and well-appointed with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a cosy living area. A key benefit was its private decking, offering stunning views of the Devon coastline whenever the winter sun made an appearance.

Non-Stop Activities and Entertainment

Contrary to assumptions about limited options, the park was buzzing with things to do. Using the handy Haven app, the family planned a schedule packed with both complimentary and paid activities. These ranged from creative sessions like a 'Make A Bear' party to active adventures on the Aerial Adventure course and Football Fun Factory.

The indoor swimming pool was a major draw, and with the included Haven PlayPass granting 14 swimming sessions per stay, it did not disappoint. The entertainment offerings were a particular highlight, with two venues hosting shows from morning until night.

The entertainment team were the absolute stars of the holiday, putting on full-scale pantomimes, hosting karaoke, and engaging brilliantly with children and adults alike, ensuring a memorable experience for all families present.

Dining, Accommodation, and Overall Value

While the lodge was fully equipped for home cooking, the park offered a wide array of dining choices including Slim Chickens, Chopstix, Papa Johns, and even an on-site Wetherspoons pub. The location also provided direct access to a beach, perfect for bracing winter walks.

The experience proved that caravan parks aren't just for summer visits. Despite the typical British November weather, the park's facilities and dedicated staff brought all the sunshine needed for a fantastic family break.

In terms of cost, four-night off-peak breaks in March and April start from just £99 for a Saver grade caravan, representing exceptional value. The Devon Cliffs park reopens for the season in March 2026.
